Service Robots In The Home In Years To Come

Many of us wonder whether the future will bring us a world of robots. We have heard many rumors and have seen many breakthroughs. But what does the future hold for our homes?
There is an answer to this question: Service robots!
Hundreds of types, hundreds of shapes, sizes, and colors. Each one with its own function. We already have service robots in our homes (quite primitive ones in fact). We can find robotic mops like the Scooba from iRobot - the robot preps the floor by vacuuming loose debris, squirts clean solution, scrubs the floor, and then sucks up the dirty solution leaving a nearly dry floor behind. Several million people know of the robotic vacuum cleaner Roomba from iRobot as they own one. In addition to these, there are Ironing robots (like the Dressman by Siemens AG) and Pet robots (like the littler-Robot for cats) on the market. We can also find many home courier robots, serving robots, robotic lawnmowers, automated pool cleaners, and toy robots.

But we still don’t see any multi-task robots. In the future, experts predict that robots will be more sophisticated and will take more duties off our shoulders. The robots of 2020 will be autonomous, with environmental awareness sensors. Other properties will include self recharging, self diagnostic and self repairing. They will have more sophisticated artificial brains with sophisticated electronic circuits. Future robots will guide blind people and act as home automation for the elderly and disabled, will do most jobs in home or hospital, including Robo-surgery. There will be housework robots for cleaning, washing, transporting, etc.
It looks like our lives will depend on these robots one day. They will be smart, will be able to communicate just like us, and may be conscious. Everything in the house, all the chores; will be done by specialized robots. They do not waste time, they do not make mistakes! Robots will be the most efficient entity on Earth in a few decades. Humanoid robots will be everywhere, giving us a sense of comfort – people tend to dislike ambiguous shapes. They will help us, protect us and our belongings, and often entertain us. In a single home there will be a host of robots, each one doing what it is supposed to do. Every robot will have voice recognition capabilities. Police robots and guard robots will appear, as incorruptible law enforcers, and the crime rate may decrease significantly. And, best of all, robots will never ask for higher wages!

So, in the future, robots will play a decisive role in our lives. According to experts, robots will be used everywhere in the house, from cleaning the dishes to watching over our children. They will interact with us, speak with us, understand us, and even make us laugh with a good joke. And, best of all, they will never get tired of us or will they?
